The difference lies in the details. Hand-tufted rugs are made without tying knots and instead are made by a rug-maker using a tufting gun, which pushes material through a pre-determined design. This process is much more efficient than hand-knotting which is what reduces the cost of the rug. Though hand-tufted rugs are inexpensive and not a one-of-a-kind collectors piece like a hand-knotted, they are built to be very durable and efficient for high traffic areas and great for every-day use.
